History is a record of the past with historians
using documents, artifacts, and works of art
to interpret past events. As a subject, history
can be researched and studied as an important
scholarly area of understanding events that
have happened in earlier years. Historians
are scholars or novice enthusiasts that research
and record events from the past as correctly
as they know. Their works enable future
generations to study and acquire knowledge
those past events.
A family tree is a form of history as the tree documents
the history of a family and its various links. Family
information can be found in Census Records, Immigration
data, Military records and logs, Birth, Marriage, and
Death Certificates. Information can also be obtained
through historical newspapers that were printed at the
time being researched. Biographies are also a good
source of information, as is asking relatives.
Many events from the past are recorded in various
forms of written works and audio and visual
presentations. Many presentations rely heavily
on factual information, but some half-truths are
added to make the story or issue more sensational
or interesting to those exposed to the information.
In order for events to be recorded into history, they must
be considered a remarkable event, finding or fact. An
example would be the speeches of the American Presidents
and the events that surrounded them that has affected our
lives today. Documentaries have been recorded through
visual and audio resources so that we may see and hear the
Presidents of the United States.
Some of the most fascinating events in history include
war. History explores not only the actual events but
also how the war has affected lives of those in the war
and connected with the war in the past and present. The
War is defined as a state of conflict, a contest and
battle that can last for a long period that is conducted
between states carried on by arms, fighting. America has
seen a great amount of struggle, and fighting in order
to obtain certain rights and privileges. Without these
struggles, our nation would not likely be as prosperous
and free. War is devastating. It destroys, lives, families,
landmarks, economic structures, finances, and degrees of
power.
Civil War is particularly fascinating because it was
fought by Americans on American soil. The results of each
war through time has shaped the progress of America as a
nation. Other important wars include World War I and II,
and the Revolutionary, Korean, and Vietnam Wars.
