Is Private School Right For Your Child?

As a parent one of the most difficult decisions you
will have to make is which school to send your child
to. You may find yourself deciding between sending
your child to public school or pivate school. It is
important that you weigh both options carefully
including all of the pros and cons for the decision.
Because of the profound impact this will have on your
child's life it is important that you discuss the
decision as a couple and view all possible issues.

The first stage in the process will be determining why
you are considering private school for your child. For
example, if the reason you are considering private school
is that your child is having difficulty with other
children in the public school you may want to reevaluate
your decision. You will need to consider if pulling
your child out of the school and putting them in another
school will resolve the problem, or if it is sending
the wrong message to your son or daughter making them
think that they should run from problems rather than trying
to solve them.

However, if your main reason for putting your child into
private school is so that they can receive things they
are not currently receiving in public school than you may
want to start your research. Many private schools are
better able to focus on the children and a well-rounded
education that includes the cor classes plus more fine
arts, music and better science and math courses. This is
especially true if your child has special educational
needs because of a physical or learning disability.
Some private schools are better equipped to care for such
children and provide them with the special attention they
need.

Many parents who wish to send their children to private
school do not have the necessary funds to pay for tuition.
Much like universities, private schools offer tuition
assistance to families in need. This tuition assistance
can either be loans, grants, or scholarships and
information can be obtained in the school~s office. If you
decide private school is the option of choice for your
child, begin researching schools to see which one meets his
or her specific needs or wishes. After you have narrowed
down your choices to a couple of schools, arrange visits to
make sure your child feels comfortable in the school~s
atmosphere.

Once you find the right school you will want to begin the
application papers right away and complete the application
process which very often also includes an interview of the
child. During the process it will be determined if your
child and the school are a good fit.
